Requirements / Qualifications for teachings job in China

Bago ka mag apply kailangan na ma meet mo muna ang mga qualifications na ito para di sayang ang effort at pera mo. Kung wala ka pang mga requirements, umpisahan mo na para di ka mahirapan later on.

How to prepare a video introduction for teaching in China?

Best practices

  1. At least one minute – Keep it short and simple, all they need to hear is your accent and pronunciation.
  2. White background – clean your background, use a white wall if you can.
  3. Clear audio – Use any microphone available such as earphones, dynamic mic, wireless mic, or any.
  4. The higher quality, the better (1080p Max) – do not send a pixilated video with crappy audio.
  5. Horizontal orientation is preferred, but you can also make a vertical video.
  6. State the following: name, age, experience, highest degree, and when are you ready to begin a new job.

These best practices are simply practices for the best result, but not necessarily to follow, you can make your own format according to your style.

Is your application for teaching in China Getting Noticed?

Once agents or HRs noticed you and find you a suitable candidate for the vacant position, they will arrange an initial interview with you to get to know you more and ask you to send them your documents including your video introduction. This is the first interview with the agent. If they are satisfied with your initial interview, they will forward your video introduction and resume to potential schools that they think may suit your qualifications.

Once the school responds, they will arrange a second interview with the school’s HR or leaders to assess your qualifications and teaching capability. They may ask you to have a short DEMO during this period. Be ready with your demo piece and do your best.

What are agents and HRs looking for an applicant who wants to teach in China?

  1. Pronunciation/accent – Make sure to pronounce in a neutral manner and be natural.
  2. Suitability for the job – School leaders want to see if you are suitable and can do the job. Show your abilities during this time.
  3. Teaching experience – School leaders want to know if you have the right experience for the job. Show them your skills to prove your resume.
  4. Teaching skills – Are you qualified for the job? Do you have a suitable skill set for the job? Show them that you can do it and you are more than competent.

Now you got a job offer, ready to work and teach in China?

After all the interviews and sending of documents, you finally signed a contract. Yay! Congratulation, you passed the first level, and now you are ready for level two. It’s time to move. Using the documents you sent them, your school will be applying for a work permit through the Foreign Affairs online service. After a week, they will get a result if everything is well.

They will send you a Notice of Approval that you can use to apply for a Z-Visa from the Chinese Embassy near you.

But, that’s not all, you need to tell them that the POEA requires an authenticated contract for you to be given an Overseas Employment Certificate or OEC. You need to send them the POEA’s “Employment Contract for Various Skills”. Download the contract below and send it to your school so they can begin the process.

How to get the contract Authenticated by the Philippine Consulate in China?

There are two ways to legalize said contract either

  1. Authentication or
  2. Acknowledgment

3 Steps Authentication Process

  1. Notary office: 7-10 working days process ( paid 810 RMB for everything including translation)
  2. Province FAO office: 3 working days process ( paid 100 RMB for the authentication)
  3. Philippine Consulate Authentication: 1 or 3 days, fees may vary according to your need as indicated below.

  2. RMB 266 – Expedited (Next day)

Teaching in China contract authentication process and requirements

Time to Get a Z-Visa, an entry permit for the purpose of teaching in China

Now that your contract is already authenticated and all the other documents are ready, your school will send them all to your address. Wait for about 14 days to arrive. After you receive the documents, bring the following to the Chinese Embassy to apply for a Z-Visa and pay the fee accordingly.

Here are the specific required documents.

Z-Visa Requirements

Application Fee:

1. Chinese Citizen:

  1. Php 400/per document – Civil Document
  2. Php 800/per document – Commercial Document

2. Foreign Citizen:

  1. Php 1200/per document – Civil Document
  2. Php 2400/per document – Commercial Document

Processing Time:

  1. Regular processing time is 4 working days. (apply on Monday, pick up on Thursday)
  2. Express service (third working day release): an additional fee of 1100 pesos per document will be charged.
  3. Rush service (second working day release): an additional fee of 1700 pesos per document will be charged.
  4. Pay fees during collection. Cash only.

While the documents are being processed, bring the Authenticated Contract to POEA to apply for an overseas Employment certificate or OEC.   2. ₱100 – PAG-IBIG Contribution (minimum amount per month)
  3. $25 – OWWA Membership Contribution
  4. ₱2,400 (one-year coverage) – PHILHEALTH Contribution

Ready to fly? Book your air ticket, you are now ready to begin teaching in China

Finally, you are now set, all your documents are ready, and it’s time to get your air ticket booked at the best possible time according to your situation.

You have 30 days to enter China and upon arrival, you will be registered with the local police and will be asked to undergo another medical for your work permit then you will be going to the public security bureau to apply for a residence permit valid from one year to three years depending on the nature of your work. You will also be asked to give your passport for the processing of your residence permit.

In two weeks, you will receive your new residence permit along with your work permit. You are now legal to work in China.
